there is a kind-of circularity here. ... the revelant faq entry says "check the forums" and the forum says "check the faq"

The question was if Orb was planning to have a Linux version. The FAQ answers that.
It sends you to the forums only for checking for updates that we may post there when we reach beta status.

So no, I don't see any kind of circularity. :)

I too would like a Linux Version, but with 1 added feature.

Currently ORB can remote schedule programs to record from a TV Tuner if you have a MCE PC. I propose that someone implement a similar feature but for MythTV on Linux.

Linux + ORB = Complete Freedom from Microsoft.

For those patiently waiting since 2005 for the orb dev team to make Linux port, if you are tired of waiting check out jinzora. Some say it is even more feature rich than orb and is designed with Linux in mind.

Maybe a mass exodus away from orb is what orb needs to finally listen to it's Linux users.

I've tried Jinzora, what a major pain in my opinion. Almost anything is preferable to me than Jinzora.

While not a uPNP server, I like Ampache quite a bit for music anyway.

But having just discovered Orb I think I will be running Orb in a virtual machine on my Amahi server.

I hope they hurry up with the Linux version.
