UPDATE : OrbLive / OrbLive Free v2.0.12.11 has been released on 02/23/2010. This build re-introduces LiveTV streaming over 3G/Edge.

OrbLive / OrbLive Free had to be revised in order to comply with Apple / AT&T demand to stop facilitating Live TV streaming over 3G/Edge.

The following is applicable only for OrbLive / OrbLive Free version 2.0.12.8

Make sure that you have installed the latest version of Orb 2.54.0018 (or later version) on your PC.

When your iPhone is connected to 3G/Edge:

- "Live TV" will change as "Channel Guide" for selecting "Video -> TV" in OrbLive / OrbLive Free.
- Tapping a live TV channel in "Channel Guide" section, "Record" screen will appear with "Watch Recorded Show" button (at center of the screen).
- You should select "Watch Recorded Show" button (with default record duration 1 hour or define a custom duration as per your requirement), Orb starts recording the selected live TV channel in PC & OrbLive / OrbLive Free will automatically playback the latest recorded (i.e. currently recording) live TV.

There is no change in "Live TV" section, if you are connected to WiFi

Note that if you have already purchased OrbLive then you should be able to download it again without any charges, if you use the same App store account.

Is it actually trying to record? This is silly and not working. Now I get an error about Orb servers having technical difficulties when trying to add a schedule. So now I can't watch live tv anymore?

How can Apple have allowed this for all this time and suddenly force "live" to be turned off?

ORB you are being dishonest.
You can't simple downgrade a program for which your customers paid money. You mention "bug fixes" on the latest ORB Live upgrade page but "strangely" there is no mention that the program will be amputated by a very important function. I, like many other customers paid for this very function!

Furthermore that Apple / AT&T arrangement only concerns the US, right? I live in Japan therefore it has nothing to do with the US!

If you don't do something about it fast, I will file an official complaint to ORB Networks and Apple because I see this like a breach of contract.

So,...yesterday, before I got this new update on my iphone, I could watch LIVE TV on my iphone using 3 G, but today I can not!!! Now I can only watch LIVE TV using wifi? I am so confused. Wish I never did this update. I think I paid $9.99 for the ORBLive to watch TV and it was working so great, but now I have problems every day. Please clarify for me....Can I ever watch LIVE TV now if I don't have wifi?

This is BS! I want my GOD DAMN MONEY BACK! The only reason I have this app is to stream Live TV over 3G. If I cannot do that anymore the product becomes useless!!!!!!! I just tried over wifi and the same pre-record BS is there. No live over wifi! There are many other apps out there that stream music from home better than ORB so I dont need it for that!

This is a disgrace!!!!!! You took my money and not the product is crippled. I dont care if AT&T or APPLE made this decision. Your product is broken and you should be morally obligated to return our hard earn money to us!

Do the right thing and dont be a typical crook like most of corporate america is! This is going to severely damage your reputation!

I was one of the original Beta testers of ORB Live for the iPhone and find this latest change unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you lie in your update about bug fixes and you take away what is your primary feature. So what is the "LIVE" for in your name then???

You have not only pissed off potential new customers, you have alienated your paying ones! Great Job! Apple made you do it, yeah, do you think your customers care? Any warning at all? No you hide your crippling of the product in a vaguely worded update.

For those that already downloaded the update (and not jailbroken):

"check your recycle bin for the deleted previous verison of orb. When iTunes upgrades an app it puts the old version in your recycle bin. Move the old version out of recycle bin and to your desktop, and then delete the new one off your iphone and iTunes account, sync, then add back the old one".

Worked for me and I will not update until LIVE streaming, the whole point of this app, is again back.

I did not update via iTunes. I updated over the 3G network directly onto the iPhone. Is there anyway I can rollback to the previous version?

**Do not download the new update for OrbLive on the iPhone. The new update will remove you ability to watch Live TV on the AT&T 3G network. According to Orb this was done at the request of AT&T. Amazingly they can force this fix yet Skype still does not work over 3G on AT&T 3 months after they stated they would allow it.

Orb Software at this time owes everyone who purchased OrbLive a full refund as this is why it was purchased. Also they have falsely advertised the update on the App Store. False advertising is against the law and can cost you guys alot of money.

Additionally, if you use Itunes to Sync your Apps, imediately delete the updated version of the App from your phone and re-sync you phone with Itunes. This will re-install the previous version.

Just delete Orb directly onto the iphone and then make synchronization via iTunes , where you have old version.

I already had this program but if your iPhone is jail broken you can buy 3g unrestrictor and it fixes the live feature over 3g

What are the odds of live TV returning to 3G in future versions of Orb? There has to be a way around this for Orb. I no expert but I am sure there are other apps running on 3G. Apple/ATT and this Orb crap just caused allot more iphones to be jailbroken.

You can't just downgrade a product which has been PURCHASED before. Legally this is a very suspicious commercial act and probably against the law!

Furthermore that Apple / AT&T arrangement only concerns the US. People living outside the US shouldn't be concerned anyway! I live in Japan therefore am NOT concerned by this. For your information we don't have AT&T in Japan.

If you don't change this situation immediately I demand that you REFUND the money I paid for this application.

ORB Networks lied in their app update to version 2.0.12.8 comments by writing it is just bug fixes and they took away this main feature without warning. We as commercial customers have the right to get our money back.

I am not affliated with orb, apple or Att. But I can speculate as to the recent update fiasco. Att complained to apple stating something along the lines of "Att: probably said to keep us happy you must either force the removal of orblive from the app store or remove live tv". So apple tells orb hey we are going to pull your app (again) or you must remove the live tv feature over 3g. Orbs work around which I give them some credit for, allowing you to start recording the show,like on a delay, and then it starts streaming the program shortly after. But unfortunatly it's very buggy no doubt to the short notice they had. I myself have reverted back to my backup, because this new method is so buggy (ie starts playing then stops and starts again), and actually worked great before this latest update. Hopefully Att/apple will again Get their heads out of the arse and allow orb to return the 3g live tv function. Also I think this might be even bigger then what was mentioned here and in previous posts.
