Post Mobile Phone Streaming Issues
When streaming a group of songs often the song will stop after a few seconds and then automatically jumps to next song. Is there a fix for this?

I have the exact same problem, have you found a solution? The first song in the stream always works, the rest of them play between 45-60 seconds before switching to the next one, only happens on my windows mobile phone, not on my XP desktop?

Thanks, Chris

I was having the same problem and solved it by lowering my stream speed.

Cool. Thanks. I tried that and still have the same problems. I have it with both video and audio.

Same here. Must have something to do with Windows media 10 mobile. This was a problem with orb 1.0 to that was addressed in Build 1.01.0638. The release notes say "Fix for playlists skipping after 30s with some WMPs"

And the same here. I'm experiencing the same problems too.

I am using a Palm Treo 750v. The problems occur when I am playing streams with both Windows Media Player 10 ánd TCMP, so I'm not quite sure what the cause of this problem would be. Lowering the bitrate doesn't solve the problem. Streams play file when played on a desktop computer.

Yes, that sounds like my problem, also. Looks like this is something Orb needs to address. How do we get their attention?

I don't know if this is exactly the same case but I have a similar problem. In my Sprint Treo 700p I have setup my video stream to Windows Media and 80kbps. Both video and music stream with no problem initially, however a few seconds before it ends, Kinoma EX stops playing and freezes. Nothing fixes this only a soft reset. I have tried different settings and nothing fixes this issue. This is my first time installing orb so any advice would be appreciated.

It seems that I'm not the only one having this issue:

Thanks,

Orb has this help file which seems to apply:

"Question:
Why does WMP10 on my mobile phone (PPC6700, Treo 700w, etc.) freeze if I hit the Previous, Pause or Next button when streaming a playlist?
Solution:
If you touch any Windows Media Player timeline control on WMP v10.1 while streaming a playlist, WMP will crash and may require you to power down and reboot your mobile phone to use the player again.

This is a bug in Windows Media Player version 10.1 that does not only affect Orb streams, but playlists being streamed from other sources as well. This mobile version of Windows Media Player fails to stream successive tracks in a playlist.

So, for the time being, Orb implemented a workaround which consists in creating the playlist on the Orb PC itself (server-side playlist), and sending it as a single track to the mobile phone for streaming. This means, however, that the track duration displayed in your Media Player will be an aggregate of all the tracks in your playlist rather than the single track currently playing.

Note: the only media player controls you can safely use in this version of WMP are the Up and Down volume buttons."

The sentence "This mobile version of Windows Media Player fails to stream successive tracks in a playlist." seems to apply to the problem discussed here. I feel like the workaround discussed in this article isn't being implemented on my ppc6700. Even when I try to play an entire playlist (by making it my only playlist and selecting Play All playlists), it stops playing altogether after a few seconds into the second track.

Got a reply from orb suggesting to try TCPMP. Downloaded it free and set it as default for .asx files. Works perfect so far

Yes, before I read the previous post, I coincidently also installed TCPMP. Works much better. My connection is variable and I get some buffering lags, but that happened with WMP also. With TCPMP, I'm asked each time if I want to replace the previous streaming file. That didn't happen with WMP, but it's not a big deal. Orb ought to advertise this remedy more prominently, I think.

Here's the download link for TCPMP:

http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download

At the moment that link isn't working. Here's another indirect link:

http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1080

Also, you might do a Google search and use Google's cached copy of the download page.

As you probably know, there is a version of TCPMP for Palm-based devices. So, I guess it would be worth a try. I have no experience with Treos or the Kinoma player.

I've encounted a little problem with TCPMP. I am using MS Voice Command, expecially when driving, to control music played, not streaming through Orb, but just music that I've downloaded into my phone. Voice Command works with Windows Media Player (Mobile), but not with TCPMP. When I associated streaming files with TCPMP, I apparently also associated these other non-streaming files with TCPMP as well. Now whenever I try to play these non-streaming files with Voice Command, TCPMP tries to open instead of WMP. TCPMP doesn't open completely, sort of gets stuck halfway and I have to reset my PPC6700. I haven't worked on this problem much yet. Maybe there is an easy solution...

Post Kinoma responds to issue
According to Kinoma it is an Orb issue that will be taken care:

http://forum.kinoma.com/showthread.php?t=1319
Quote:
Hello,

There are currently two "open" issues playing back Windows Media streams delivered from Orb, depending on the content:

1) Kinoma Player 4 EX locks up near the end of the stream
2) Kinoma Player 4 EX repeatedly buffers at about 15 seconds from the end of the stream

The first problem occurs because Orb sends more than one end of stream marker, which unfortunately confuses Kinoma Player 4 EX. The second problem occurs because Orb reports a stream duration which is actually 15 seconds greater than the actual stream duration, causing Kinoma Player 4 EX to re-buffer endlessly waiting for media that will never arrive.

Both problems were reported to Orb Support weeks ago, but we have worked around the problems in Kinoma Player 4 EX. The fixes/workarounds will be available in the next Kinoma Player 4 EX update.

We appreciate your patience. Please let us know if there are any additional Orb issues.
