ok, so I have the newest orb up and running, and it works flawlessly.

the only problem, is I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out how to run it at startup! I'd like this to work in case my computer reboots while I'm not at home (for any reason, such as windows installing an update and automatically rebooting)

I've tried everything and am out of ideas. I've clicked the option in the control panel for running it at startup, and for running it without being logged in. I've added the shortcut to the startup folder. It was already present in the msconfig program under Startup.

There is no sign of it starting up for me when I log in. What am I missing here??

I'm also having an issue with the audio being very distorted when I'm streaming analog channels... this only happens with my s-video set-top box, the ATSC channels come in and sound fine...

update: when playing back the stream on the host PC that runs orb, the audio is fine. when playing it on my iphone or other laptops in the house, the sound comes back with a metallic "twang" to it... I have already installed K-Lite codec pack in hopes that would help out, if someone could tell me exactly what settings to use with that, maybe that's the problem...

I tried disabling the UAC control on my Windows 7 and restarted the PC. Orb started automatically. Just try this out at your end !!

Make sure the options ("Start Orb when windows starts" & "Run Orb when I'm not logged into windows") in Orb Control Panel - General Tab is checked.

About your second issue it is your environment, you have to play with your sound card settings, codecs etc.

yeah, i'm sure it is something. i'm using a hauppauge hvr-1950, and the s-video and rca audio inputs on that...

i couldn't find any way to switch to another audio source (such as the line-in on my soundcard) like I could in the older versions of Orb. any clues?

after looking at the Orb Log files (Level 4 set in the registry) I see an error that says:

[INFO ] - Profile Info: aCodec: mp3, Bitrate: 40kbps, SampleRate: 0, Channels: 0, Format: flv
[ERROR] - OutputPluginDriver::init could not find any available plugin for this profile
[DEBUG] - OutputManager::init : couldn't find any output & encoder plugin 2

alright, so I just tried out using my iphone on the 3g network, *not my wifi* and the sound is fine! I usually don't stream with orb around the house, but it is kinda confusing why that doesn't work (it definitely used to).

but yeah, good news is that it works outside of my network, which is the main concern
