Post Audio, No Video on Phone . . . Please help me get this right
Following hardware:

WinTV Pvr USB 2.0, hardware encoded Mp2 files
Comcast Morotola 6200 box, digital service
HP ZD8000
Linksys WRT54G2 Router
Samsung Eternity Cell Phone

Software --
No special codecs packs
Orb 2.50

Want to stream live TV and recorded videos in Mp2 and flv formats.

Whether 2.0 or 2.50, I can stream videos up to Orb and back to my own computer without any problems. But when I try to stream to the Samsung Eternity, I get audio, but only a black screen, no matter what codec tried in Orb or stream setting chosen onboard the phone. ffdshow did not work when installed, back when I had Orb 2.0 also installed. The previous thread regarding a Samsung Eternity was not helpful, as I would not know how to uninstall my codecs, and with my limited knowledge, don't want to try.

Please, does anyone have any ideas? I'd really enjoy figuring this out. I'm not very advanced in the technology, though more than a beginner.

Thanks very much for your help.

Hey there are many threads with the same issue. Looks like Samsung eternity is not fully support in Orb. Search eternity in forums which should give you couple of post with the same problem..... Many of them claim that they are able to stream audio but not video.... sorry I don't own a eternity device. look at this http://support.orb.com/kb/entry/129/.

Well, I think I've read somewhere that an Eternity owner can stream Orb, and Orb has not said it cannot stream to that kind of phone, so I am confused. I have seen the page for the link directly above, and I have tried FFDShow and Dscaler5, and neither work.

Anyone with any other suggestions? Appreciate your help.

I just got my video working and I am doing cartwheels!!!! Ever since I upgraded my DSL to Fiber Optic, I was only able to stream audio, but no video. I tried everything and searched everywhere, but this is the only thing that got my video to come through: Port Forwarding on my new router!

I followed the directions in this Orb Support post:

http://support.orb.com/kb/entry/121/

I only did the forwarding for the 3GP ports (not the web 80 port, didn't need that for the streaming). I also made sure those ports were open in my firewall on my machine. The minute I enabled this port forwarding, I was able to finally see streaming video (along with the audio) on my BlackBerry Storm!!!

WooHoo!! Hope this helps anyone with the same problem!

My video worked for awhile...and then just stopped working. I fixed this problem by doing this below:

-----------------

After working for weeks on getting video to stream on my Blackberry Storm, I finally figured out my problem. I was able to hear the audio of the stream, but would only get a blank (black) screen for the video. I loaded a program I found called "AVIcodec" located at http://avicodec.duby.info/ .

This program told me my FFDshow video driver was located at "C:\WINDOWS\system32\C:\PROGRA~1\COMBIN~1\Filters\FFDShow\ff_vfw.dll". This was obviously wrong. I searched my registry (I am on Windows XP [WMC]) for "ff_vfw.dll" and found the "vidc.ffds" Key. This Key had the above string in it, for the location of the driver DLL. I replaced the string with just "ff_vfw.dll". AVIcodec then showed the location of the DLL as "C:\WINDOWS\system32\ff_vfw.dll".

After I rebooted and Orb started back up, I clicked a video in my Orb page and my Storm popped the video right up! Man, I have been beating my head against this for days and must have installed and reinstalled codecs galore. All this time, it was just a bad Registry Key.

Hope this helps out anyone trying to get their Storm working for streaming video. (Now, I am just waiting for the HTC Incredible to come down in price... )

Enjoy!
