Can't add new folder to ORB
I have a Mac Mini will all my media on an external USB drive. Using ORB 2.50.0046. When I go to control panel to add the entire drive or even just one folder on that drive it isn't getting scanned and updating the content in ORB. If I copy some of those files to the USERS/gary/Movies it finds the file right away? Is this a bug or am I just being and idiot and missed some important set?

Re: Can't add new folder to ORB
New Orb user, but I'm having the same problem. Mac mini has the music and photos. Movies on a firewire external HD. I added them to Orb, but during the index, it never indexed the external HD. Got the pictures and music from my mini just fine.
Has anyone figured out how to get Orb to recognize the external drive? Could it have something to do with the external drive spinning down when it's not being used?

Re: Can't add new folder to ORB
It seems to be that way for any folders that aren't itunes. I have my media on internal sata drives on my mac pro and orb does the same thing. I add the folders, but durning indexing it either doesn't see any of the media or it just crashes.

Mac OS X 10.5.8 and Orb 2.52.0030 (External Drive)
Just installed the listed version (first time Orb user) and got it up and running. I was able to have it index my music and photos on an external firewire hard drive. Initial use I was able to browse the photos and music from mycast on the computer and web enabled phone. It crashed soon after and I was unable to view any media on the external drive. I can index and view, listen to files on the mini itself. I ran uninstall script and tried re-installing. Still unable to browse the external drive. Looking thru FAQ it states to file browse thru mycast. Unfortunately, the Orb media manager does not seem to find the external drive so there is no way to browse and refresh.
Reading earlier posts this seems to be happening with the earlier version (2.52.0072). Just wanted to post my situation and see if there were any fixes yet found for this version.
Thanks.

Re: Can't add new folder to ORB
The problem is that your external drive is probably not indexed by Spotlight. What you can do, is ask Spotlight to index this drive and refresh your Orb library once the Spotlight indexing is done.
To do so: - First you need to be root: "sudo su" - Ask Spotlight to index your disk: "mdutil -i on /Volumes/MyExternalDrive" - Then wait until Spotlight is done indexing. To make sure of it, click on the Spotlight icon in the top-right corner. You should see a message with a time estimate for the indexing. Once this is over, you can check that typing the name of some files on your HDD will actually display them in the Spotlight window. - Open Orb Control Panel and go to Media Sources - Refresh your library.

Re: Can't add new folder to ORB
Well, how about that. I had Spotlight set to ignore my external hard drive. I'm not at home right now, but I used LogMeIn to remotely control my home computer from my laptop. Removed the external drive from the Privacy tab in Spotlight. Spotlight had previously indexed the drive so re-indexing only took a minute. I had uninstalled Orb so I downloaded the newest version, installed, indexed. Logged into mycast and poof! there they are.
Well done. And thank you.
