I recently installed Orb 2.51.0032 on my Windows 7 Ultimate machine to use with my Hauppauge 1600. I configured the analog tuner to work in Media Center through my cable STB, and everything works as expected there. When I configure it to work with Orb, I am able to stream live TV, but I cannot change the channels on the STB. Is there any extra setup that I need to do to get this to work?

To change Live TV channels in Orb, you need an USB Infra-Red (IR) Blaster such as the ones included in Microsoft MCE-compatible Remote Control devices.

Make sure to configure your IR Blaster with MCE and then re-run the TV setup in Orb via control Panel. (Click Orb tray icon -> Control Panel -> TV > follow the wizard) and try again.

Yes, I already have an IR Blaster set up to work with the STB. I was able to configure it during the Media Center setup, and it works fine in Media Center. After I set that up, I installed Orb and ran that setup. The last part of the Orb setup said that in order to change channels, I would need to configure it in Media Center. Because I had already set up Media Center, I did not do anything else. Do I need to re-run the Media Center setup?

If you can change channels via MCE then you should be able to change it via Orb too, we recommend you to restart Orb/Orb PC and then try again. If this does not work, please let us know the following:

- Is your Win 7 32bit or 64bit?
- Did you by any chance upgraded from a previous version of Orb?. Which EXACT version?
- Were you able to change channels in the previous version of Orb?

This was a clean install of 32 bit Win 7 Ultimate. I know it used to work correctly with Vista, but it was about a year ago when I last used Orb, and I do not know the exact version I was running, but I also was not using a STB then.

I am also having this exact issue. Before I upgraded to 2.54.0018 I had to option to configure my IR but was unsuccessful in getting the IR to work. Now with the latest version, I dont have the IR option. I have ran wizard for the TV and i get same response as you. I have re-ran the tv setup for MCE and still no go. Let me know how you resolve your issue so that I can fix mine as well. I am running Windows 7 x64.

I was having the same issue as you guys, what ir blaster do you have? you guys should try this fix

Go into your Orb Folder, probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Orb Networks\Orb

Then open up the "bin" folder:

In there you will see OrbLauncher.exe and Orb.exe

make sure Orb is closed out of and completely shut down. (right click on the orb icon in the tray and exit)

Right click on OrbLauncher.exe, go to properties, then click on the compatibility tab
check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
and in the drop down menu select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"

Do the same thing for Orb.exe

Now restart Orb and go into the Control Panel you should see the Remote Controller option there.

You should now be able to edit your remote control without the use of MCE

Thank You. This has restored my remote controller shortcut. Now i cant get the tv to stream. I will play with the settings and see if i can get something to work.

I think i found the problem. I am accessing my machine through Logmein and when I connect to my pc the resolution does not match what mce thinks it should be therefore video does not work. I got home and went to my pc and launched MCE ...no more probs. I guess once i walk away ..dont access through logme in unless i need to access something else. kinda weird....

hmm, ur orb only works when mce is on? that's weirdd...usually mce causes problems for orb's streaming...if you go into ur mycast orb and settings> under troubleshooting you'd see an option to shut down mce remotely to get streams to work
