Post DRM protected Rhapsody To Go Files
I am trying to use Orb as a Media Server to stream my Rhapsody To Go downloads to my PS3. The music files are stored as .wma files and I assume they are DRM protected. When I use Orb version v2.01.0047 the files will play just fine on both the PS3 and through the Orb Player. But when I upgraded to version v2.51.0032, the files failed to play on either the PS3 or the Orb Player. For now I have reverted back to the earlier version, but does anyone know what the problem is. Is there some tweak I failed to employ on the newer version?

Here's another question. There are also some Rhapsody to Go .wma music files on another computer on my network (not the one from which Orb is running). Although I can see the files, I cannot get those to play on either version. Anyone know why or how to fix?

And finally, is there any way that anyone knows of to stream Rhapsody to Go files directly from Rhapsody without having to download them first to the hard drive attached to computer running Orb?

Thanks for your responses in advance.

Could you please share few of your .wma (DRM protected) files so we can diagnose this issue?

You can share few .wma (DRM protected) samples on your public page or upload to some free servers and share (or PM me) the URL.

Wizkid:

I have loaded three DRM-protected WMA files from my Rhapsody to Go subscription to my publice web page on mycast:

http://mycast.orb.com/orb/html/public/m ... d=OCZfPb3T

These play in v2.01.0047 on both the Orb Media Player on my PC and through the Media Server on my PS3, but not on either in v2.51.0032. Please tell me if you figure anything out.

Thanks for sharing those files. To help us fix this issue in an upcoming Orb version please follow the below instruction and send us your logs to userlogs@orb.com:

2.01.0049

Enable Debug Mode (Click Orb tray - Configuration - Advanced - "check" Debug Mode - Restart Orb), try streaming few normal audio files and then try streaming Rhapsody content on your Orb PC, zip up and mail your Orb Logs folder after renaming the zipped logs folder as 2.01.0049_Rhapsody.

2.51.0032

Now uninstall* 2.01.0049 via Control panel (Add / Remove programs) and then install 2.51.0032. Please set your LogLevel to 4 (see instructions below), try streaming few audio files and the stream Rhapsody content then zip up and mail your Orb Logs folder to userlogs@orb.com after renaming the zipped logs folder to 2.51.0032_Rhapsody, also reference this forum post in your email so we can try and help you.

To set Log Level to 4 (debug mode - generates more log information which helps diagnosis):
1. Stop Orb - Click Start > Run > then type: regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | Software | OrbNetworks | Orb , then double-click LogLevel, enter 4 and click OK - Start Orb and try again.

*Note : When you uninstall Orb, please check the checkbox on the last screen "delete user settings". It is important to check that box to clear the existing DB. Also note that, uninstalling Orb will wipe out all user settings (including your favorites, custom channels, scheduled recordings, etc.) and Orb applications as if you never had Orb installed.

Thanks in advance for helping us to improve Orb.
