 Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
We are happy to announce the release of Orb for Mac OS X (Intel 10.5 or later) to the public. Beware that currently we do not support Live TV on Mac. In addition to bug fixes that will improve the overall usage, this new version provides a much better streaming experience: Faster start, better quality and many more formats supported! You can download it from our download page: http://corp.orb.com/en/download_orbPlease post your feedback on this thread.

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
I'm not able to get Orb to recognize files on my Mac Mini's external firewire drive. Are there any recommendations for fixing this problem? I have no special permission settings for the drive, I have read/write privileges. I removed the external drive from Orb's source list, then added it back and refreshed. When I look at the Media Sources in the control panel, the icons for my external drive are not greyed out like they are for my music folder. I'm running 10.5.8.

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
HI Downloaded the new version and have tried accessing my media via orb live on my iphone, problem is it seems only to play the first 3-4 seconds of anything then stops. also still does not refresh the contents of the folder if you remove something it still shows up as being in there. Any ideas??

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
But wait, there's more! I restarted my computer this morning. Orb was set to launch at startup, which it did. However, when it launched it had me start the setup process again (login and index) and then promptly crashed (both OrbSetupWizard and OrbMedia). Twice. Is there somewhere I should submit crash logs?

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
Same issue here Several failed installs, but a few times it actually worked (don't know why it did/didn't work at different times). Here are the show-stoppers for me: - you loose all your settings when you log out - you have to start all over with the setup wizard. I checked the plists in ~/Library/Preferences and my settings are in there. I guess it doesn't look for them or that's broke. - while it's running, there's no way to change settings (where did the control panel go that was there during testing?). I guess you just have to log out and fire up the setup wizard again. - no way to stop it without logging out or going into the terminal and killing a half-dozen processes. Come on guys: forget about feature requests. These seem like basic blocking and tackling to me. This release is alpha at best. I streamed a movie, but it's completely unusable at this point.
Based on other threads, there were better builds available during testing so I don't know where this one came from. I'm confused by the download anyway. When you download "version 2.5" (the only Mac link on the download page), you get a file named "Orb20Setup.dmg" Why is a file named "...20..." called version 2.5??? The download page says "2.5+" and indicates you should check the release notes for details. What release notes? Where are they? They're not on the dmg. There's no link on the web page. There's no no way to search for them on the web page. Oh wait, found them with Google - over on the support page (no link to that on the main web site either). Here are the release notes for the Mac version: Install v2.52.0027 Released 11/04/2009 * Mac only * Beware that we do not currently support Live TV on Mac
Is that what they call release notes? If I called those release notes and let my clients them, I'd get fired!
I don't know what's going on over there at Orb, but I they they've got some quality issues to say the least.

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
I'm having a similar problem as phoneboy - I get about 45 seconds to a minute and then it just stops playing the video on orblive. Really bummed - any idea what's happening? You should still have my log files from before - same problem, different release.

I have the same problems also - on my home wireless network, I can only watch the first 10 seconds or so of a program before it just stops. Away from home using 3G, it won't play at all, even with the quality turned way down.

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
Pretty buggy. I'm having the same problems you people are having. Hope they get fixed soon in a near release. It seems like a pretty cool App that could be a keeper, but for now it seems that it's not working properly. I'll try uninstalling with the script and installing it again a few more times to see if I can get it to run for a little longer before I decide to keep this current version or not. Thanks for such a great software! I'm really looking forward for a newer release soon!
Edit: Impossible... can't make it run after a reboot. It asks for the user again, all indexing is lost and then... crash. What a shame. I'll come buy often anyway to see if a newer version comes out because I'm really interested in this software =)

I can't believe this release is not happening. Sounds like nothing's changed after all this time. Silly really.

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
Went back to 2.50.0157, the official release does not have the media server option available.... not sure why they didn't take the latest beta as official instead of this one, it was pretty stable...

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
I would like to not have to pay for Leopard, but this app would be great and beneficial for not having to buy an Ipod again and using my cellphone in it's absence. Why is it not compatible with a 10.4.11 intel imac? Is there something in Leopard that makes this program work that isn't in Tiger?

Re: Orb for Mac 2.52.0027 released
It barely works some times in Leopard and Snow Leopard... I can't imagine trying to make it work in Tiguer.
