Post No sound with live TV - Win7 HVR1600
I just got a Hauppauge HVR 1600 TV tuner and I cannot get any sound when I am using Orb.
I have the latest version of Orb downloaded.
I get sound fine when I use Windows Media Center and WinTV 7.
Can someone please point out where to get this resolved?
I have looked through the settings and I cannot find in Orb where I can change the input for the audio or anything.
I get sound just fine when streaming a video.
Please help me
Thanks

Hey MKIL, I am having the EXACT same problem as you are.

I just picked up a Hauppauge HVR 1600 and I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, x86 edition.

4gb memory

64gb Solid State Local C drive
160gb 7200rpm data drive to record to

TV card works fine with Media Center. Windows 7 went out to the internet and found the drivers automatically.

- What's the Operating System on which Orb software (Orb PC) is installed ? 32bit or 64bit? - Windows 7 Ultimate , 32bit
- What is the EXACT make/model of the Tuner? - Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 TV Tuner - 1183
- Is your tuner working fine on its native PVR application? - Yes, works great with Media Center
- Are you sure that you installed the latest tuner drivers? (e.g. like MCE/Vista compatible drivers) - Yes, Windows detected / installed everything fine.
- Has your tuner ever worked with Orb? If yes, then in which version of Orb did it work? - No. New Computer & TV Tuner.
- What's the exact error message that you encounter when you try to stream Live TV via Orb ? - No error. Video plays fine in live tv, just no sound.
- Are you sure that your tuner is not in use by another application when you are trying to stream it via Orb? - Yes, all other programs are turned off at the time.
- Is your TV signal Analog or Digital (ATSC or DVB-T)? - Analog.
- Is your TV signal connected via RF or S-Video or Composite? - Coax Cable.
- Did you try recording a Live TV channel via Orb? - Trying this right now, will test playback when finished. Web tv works fine thru Orb.
- If yes then can you "Play" the recorded DVR-MS file locally in Windows Media Player? - Will test when recording is finished.

Another thing to note........ I'm currently NOT logged on the computer which I guess would be a good try. I have ORB setup to run regardless of me being logged on or not.

Thanks!
Phil

We have couple of reports about this issue, hopefully this issue will be addressed in the update specific to Win 7 which we are planning to release at the earliest.

Same problem here. I put a request in already just waiting for fix from orb. I think the audio problem is because orb think your tuner is another tuner or that audio source is something else. Good luck

Post 2.54.0018 - No TV sound
I just upgraded to version 2.54.0018, and went from having TV streaming that sometimes worked, so not working right at all. I used to have to click on the same channel a couple times to get a stream that had audio, but it eventually came through correctly. Now, there is never audio. And if I click on the same channel again after ending a stream, I get an error in WMP. :(

Windows 7 Ultimate, 32
Hauppauge HVR-1600

Are you watching live TV?

It happened to me as well, but got around by rewinding (moving the scroll bar to the beginning).

That doesn't work for me. No sound no matter what.

And I'm getting this if I play a channel, stop the player, then play the same channel again:
"Failed to open file: TV Control input: This device is in use or not supported device://tv.channel.analog/#/...

I suspect that one of our plug-in got stuck, so, in order to troubleshoot your issue further, please set loglevel to 4 (see instructions below), try streaming audio / video files from your Orb PC and then try streaming Live TV on your Orb PC via http://mycast.orb.com, later zip up your Orb Logs folder and send it to userlogs@orb.com by referencing this forum post in the subject line of your email.

To set Log Level to 4 (debug mode - generates more log information which helps diagnosis):
1. Stop Orb - Click Start > Run > then type: regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | Software | OrbNetworks | Orb , then double-click LogLevel, enter 4 and click OK - Start Orb and try again.

Post Re: 2.54.0018 - No TV sound
I have the same problem described in this thread

Yesterday I sent you my logs.

Video is ok but no audio for both WebCam and TvTuner.

Webcam has no microphone but I have an external one. Microphone is working fine for every other application. Tv Tuner sound output is plugged into soundcard input and it is working fine for other applications.

Don’t know what to do, I have tried everything suggested (btw solution recommended in http://support.orb.com/docs/troubleshooting.htm is not longer valid as http://mycast.orb.com > Open Application > Control Panel > TV/Webcams > Devices > is not an option anymore in mycast)

I appreciate your help.
