I'm trying to upgrade to current version of Orb (v2.54.0018 from v2.0x) on a winXP MCE 2004 machine (Analog Tuner - Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture). I successfully installed the Orb software but when going through the 'TV setup wizard' it freezes every time (Orb TV Setup Wizard - Not Responding) after selecting the 'set top box feed' and clicking the Next button;

Orb TV Setup Wizard - Configuring your ANALOG Tuner:
1) TV Provider selection (99301 - Charter - Kennewick - digital_cable - Kennewick) DONE.
2) Set top box configuration (Yes) DONE.
3) Set Top Box feed selection (Channel 3; picture displays correctly) DONE.
4) Click Next...FREEZES???

I've tried numerous variations of reinstalling with no success;
- turning off all anti-virus/firewall software
- complete uninstall/reinstall including Orb Cleanup Tool
- rebooting and running wizard

Please advise...thanks in advance!

Thanks for the details. If you can change channels using your IR blaster on Windows MCE outside Orb then try the following:

- Make sure to enable Debug Logs at Orb tray - Control Panel - General
- Click Orb tray - Control Panel - TV
- Click Refresh
- Select and configure the Analog part of your tuner
- Select "I don't have a set-top box" during Analog TV configuration
- Let us know whether the setup completed successfully without freezing.
- Now reconfigure your Analog part of your TV tuner (Click Orb tray - Control Panel - TV)
- Select Channel 3 (Set top box configuration (Yes)) during TV setup - Click Next
- Zip up and email your Orblogs folder to userlogs@orb.com immediately after Orb freezes and make sure to reference this forum post so we can try and help you.

Also, provide details for the following in your mail:

- What is exact model of your tuner? (PS: Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture is the device driver name)
- What is exact make / model of your your IR Blaster?
- Also, please let us know whether your IR blaster worked in earlier version of Orb? (eg: 2.01.0049, etc)

I've sent the Orb logs to userlogs@orb.com as it froze again after following the suggested instructions. Will check back for updates; thanks!

Regrettably, I can't locate the exact model number for my TV tuner/IR blaster. Can someone tell me where to find this on my computer?

Based on your logs we found out that your tuner model is Hauppauge PVR 250.

You should contact your IR Blaster vendor to find out the exact make / model of your IR Blaster.

Also, please send us your OrbLogs after trying the below suggestion so we compare both your logs.

- Install Orb version 2.01.0049
- Make sure to enable Debug Mode at Orb tray - Configuration - Advanced tab
- Re-run your TV setup and configure your IR Blaster
- Logon to http://mycast.orb.com
- Try streaming Live TV and change few channels
- Zip up and send us your Orblogs folder to userlogs@orb.com

I've emailed my logs now running orb v2.01.0049 and streaming live tv works fine. Furthermore, the reasons I wanted to upgrade to 2.5x was because I couldn't get my program guide to work in the earlier version and therefore couldn't record tv shows remotely. Regardless, please let me know what these logs reveal. Thanks!

Have you gotten any resolution on this problem. I have the exact same card (PVR-250) with a USB UIRT and the same thing happens to me. I just tried again to run the TV setup wizard and as soon as I click on next it freezes. I just left it for over a half an hour and it is still froze.

I just got my USB UIRT today. I installed the card about a week ago and the setup wizard froze on me then. I ctrl alt deleted and killed the process and everything worked. I am able to stream to my iphone. When I got the remote today I tried to program the remote and I could get no response from the remote setup. So I tried running the TV setup wizard again and it freezes every time.

Unfortunately not; per this thread they have escalated my issue so until someone from orb responds we're out of luck. I provided all the information they asked but in the end I downgraded to Orb PC v2.01.0049. Which allows me to use orb but has no TV guide content hence the reason for trying to upgrade in the first place. My belief is that until more people start complaining other issues will take precedence. So if anyone reading this is having the same issue; please post. Thanks in advance...

I too have a Hauppauge 250 with a USB UIRT, with no program guide in v2.0, and freezing during tv setup in v2.5. I had to fall back to v2.0 to get streaming to work again and am living with no program guide. Has anyone found a fix?

Nope it is not the same. Your issue is most likely related to your IR blaster and not your TV tuner.

Does this issue still happen in Orb version 2.55.0079?
